Student Council

The Student Council of the Islamic University of Spain Al-Andalusia and the Higher Institute of Islamic Sciences of Spain Al-Andalusia is the representative body of the students, created to defend their interests and promote their active participation in the academic and formative life of both institutions. Conceived as a space for dialogue and collaboration, the Council plays a fundamental role in facilitating communication between the student body and the administration, encouraging the development of cultural, social and solidarity activities that contribute to the comprehensive training of future professionals and researchers.

At the core of its structure is the Council's Board, composed of a General Coordinator, a Deputy General Coordinator, the General Secretary, the Deputy General Secretary and the Treasurer. These positions, appointed by the Rector or the Academic Council or elected by student vote, are responsible for guiding the work of the Council, managing resources and ensuring the smooth running of all its projects. The General Coordinator, as the highest representative, presides over meetings and makes urgent decisions, always with the supervision of the academic administration.

To fulfill its objectives, the Student Council is divided into several specialized Divisions, each dedicated to a different facet of the student experience. From attending to course delegates and organizing study groups and mentoring, to coordinating volunteering, activities and events, each Division works in a coordinated manner under the supervision of their respective coordinators and sub-coordinators. There are also areas focused on IT and digital communication management, multimedia content production, development of marketing and donation campaigns, research and academic publications, as well as collaboration with Muslim communities for the opening of schools and the training of Islamic Religion teachers.

The Council meets periodically to discuss and approve initiatives, proposing solutions to the concerns that arise in the day-to-day life of the academic community. These sessions, both ordinary and extraordinary, seek to channel students' ideas and turn them into concrete actions that benefit the University and the Institute as a whole. In this sense, the Council Assembly, made up of the Board and the heads of each Division, acts as a space for deliberation, allowing all voices to be heard and consensus to be reached in a participatory manner.

Throughout each academic year, the Board and the Assembly promote projects ranging from the creation of complementary training courses and the holding of conferences, to the realization of cultural events and the implementation of charitable initiatives. All of this is aimed at enriching the academic life and strengthening the identity of the Al-Andalusia Islamic University of Spain and the Al-Andalusia Higher Institute of Islamic Sciences of Spain. The Student Council, therefore, stands as a valuable reference of union and cooperation, inviting each student to commit to the collective growth and to contribute their talent and effort in building a strong and dynamic educational community.
