The teachings of the Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ are clear in this regard: religious extremism is alien to Islam. However, the persistence of violent discourses and narratives that instrumentalize faith makes a clear, pedagogical and structured response essential, both within the Muslim community and to society at large.

The creation of COPERVAI responds to the need to provide a qualified space of dialogue, advice and cooperation between the Muslim community and public institutions.
Through this Council, Al-Andalusia seeks to contribute constructively to the design and development of effective prevention strategies, helping to counter any violent extremist ideology that seeks to use religion as a justification.
Protection of coexistence and the community
While violent extremism affects the whole of society, the Muslim community often suffers particularly directly from its consequences, both in the form of stigmatization and social mistrust resulting from the acts perpetrated by violent groups.
In this context, COPERVAI was created with the aim of protecting society as a whole and the Muslim community itself.promoting preventive, training and advisory actions that provide useful tools to civil society and the authorities.
