The history of Al-Andalusia Islamic University of Spain and Al-Andalusia Higher Institute of Islamic Sciences of Spain dates back to 2013, when Sh. Mohammad Idrissi founded Al-Andalusia in the city of Seville. In its beginnings, this institution was conceived as an Islamic center dedicated to the holistic training of children, youth and adults. With the passage of time and the progressive development of its educational curriculum, the need to train specialized teachers arose, which laid the foundations for the creation of a more complete academic institution.

Thus was born the Al-Andalusia Higher Institute of Islamic Sciences of Spain, focused on offering higher education programs within the framework of the European space. Through undergraduate courses, a degree in Islamic Sciences and Theology -focusing especially on the training of Islamic religion teachers, imams and murshidat- and a master's degree oriented to different thematic areas, the institute established the pillars of a rigorous training adapted to the current needs of the European and global context.
The search for academic excellence and internationalization led to the signing of an agreement with the International Islamic University of Malaysia, in order to guarantee the accreditation and recognition of studies, as well as to foster collaboration in research. This development led to the founding of the Al-Andalusia Islamic University of Spain and the Andalusian Studies Center, a space dedicated especially to the study and dissemination of the historical legacy of Al-Andalus and the analysis of the role of Muslims in Europe.
Throughout more than a decade, Al-Andalusia and its institutions have continued to grow, always faithful to the vision of Sh. Mohammad Idrissi's vision of offering a quality Islamic education, rooted in the tradition of Al-Andalus and attentive to the European reality. With their headquarters in Seville, these institutions have established themselves as academic references that look to the future without losing sight of the rich cultural heritage that inspires them.
Today, Al-Andalusia has hundreds of students from more than twenty-two countries, providing them with the tools to develop academically and spiritually, while reinforcing universal values aimed at building a better world. Inspired by this vision, many of its alumni have established schools, led communities and actively contributed to the development of the societies in which they live, keeping Al-Andalusia's legacy alive in every step they take.
