The November 13, 2024 will be marked as a date of profound significance for the Islamic University of Spain. Al-Andalusia. On that day, the Rector of the University, Sh. Mohammad Idrissipersonally performed the first adhān at the new university campus.
A simple gesture in its form, but loaded with symbolism.
For the first time in more than 700 yearsthe call to prayer was once again heard from a minaret in the province of Sevilleconnecting the present with a historical memory that is part of these lands.
A moment that speaks without words
The adhān, which recalls the centrality of Allah in the life of the believer and marks the beginning of prayer, resounded in a space that is now beginning to fill with life. For those present, it was a moment of recollection and emotion, lived in silence, gratitude and awareness of the moment.
The fact that it was the Rector himself who pronounced this first call added a special dimension: not only the beginning of a new stage for the University, but also an act shared by an entire community that is united in this project.
Roots, continuity and horizon
This first adhān is not understood as an isolated event, but as part of a broader process of. meaningful construction. The new Campus thus begins its journey as something more than an academic space: a place where knowledge, spirituality and daily life intertwine in a natural way.
In that sound that was heard again, many recognized a serene continuity between past and present, and the responsibility to continue building the future with awareness, dignity and purpose.
May this beginning also be a permanent invitation to knowledge, excellence and inner elevation that give meaning to all authentic university education.
